Internal Echoes

Within the realm
Of staggering possibilities
Lies the answer to all the stories
You’ve ever been told
It all began when somebody said
Lo and behold
I’d like to try again
So off you went to the emerald forest
Laughing all the way
Leaving behind the small town sagas
You carried too far
Now that your able
To sneer at the past
A remedy has surfaced
From the crystal ship
That sank off your shores
Distant and wide screaming within
Tortured beneath a smile so vast
You’ve tied yourself to the mast
To set sail for parts unknown
Festering with guilt
You sail away in your dreams
Looking ahead or under your bed
Ghosts of destiny careen in your head
Echoing down the hall
You have turned a corner
Into the purple sunrise
Of a silent meadow

Gone Before

Remembering you and what you meant to me

A world lost a hero and so did I

Up close and personal

Yet distant and unknown

Now that your gone

I have created a new persona for you

Based on how I thought you would be

Or what I thought you meant to me

Pictures remain on the window sill

Yet time never stands still

Every now and then

Some tears will spill

And I recall what you left

Out here in the remains of the world

I watch it go by

And wonder what you would think of it all and

How you used to be

Would you fit in, would you even care?

Could you let us in, could we dare?

Always a rebel, outspoken and true

We all have someone close who left

The game before they should have

They still reside deep inside

To visit your spirit when you need a lift

Remembering them is a timeless giftImage

Daring Steps

Words unspoken often

Lead you to temptation

A position poised

To determine your fate

Upon the line which you walk

A razor’s edge

Two steps forward

One step off

Defend your status

Amongst the honored elite

Vested with privilege and scourge

High above you hear the call

A voice of the past

Or is it the wind

Daring you to fly

Into uncharted territory

Across the desert of your mind

A lonely terrain

Damaged by the demons

Of the modern day

For which you gamble

All that you have

And all that you areImage

Starting Over

In the morning you awake

To find out what you thought was real

Is gone, beginnings have begun

As the end of an era brilliantly crashed

Repeatedly the cycle churns

Over and over, again and again

Crazy circles you chase

Caught in the frenetic rat race

To continue this pace

They will steal your face

Surrender to the sabbath

That comes in the night

Segue silently into the void

Between the small hours

Of the coming dawn

A new start to etch into the world

You’ve chosen the path

A select few only do

So walk tall and beware a holy outlaw

Is on the loose

Who will judge your ways

And penalize your style

Spit in his face

And depart with a smile

There’s no one like you

Everywhere you go

People know your name

They’ve already determined

Your claim to fame

Move forward, don’t look back

Until you reach the clue

There you will be crowned the new kingImage

Drifting Back

Inside the evening

Are the embers of genesis

Whisper relentlessly to stoke

The fires within your seed

Allow the water to seep

Deeper and deeper into the earth

Pour out the poison

Found inside the hollows

Wander through the mountains

Pass beneath soaring trees

Take shelter from the elements

Beside the sacred lake

That echoes still the voices of the past

From the great beyond they talk

Through the valleys of time they walk

Protect them from the evil that men do

Stagnant and polluted is the government path

Purge the ranks, impeach the politicians

Bring back the native spirit

Walk tall with Mother Nature

Or she will continue her wrathImage

Empty Depths

A long sunset stares back at you

From the desolate desk of a sterile cubicle

Overwhelming urgency invades

So much to do, so little time

Interconnected isolation

All eyes upon you

Seeking direction or a new point of view

How long will you wait for others

To determine your fate

Now is here, here is gone

Just like that

Your sent into business combat

You change course, frenetic is the pace

Society induces the chase

How long will you pursue

What they tell you to do

At what cost will you give up

What you came here to do

Left upon the rocky shores

Your future is calling back to you

Between the gaps of time

A crystal light from mountain dew

Trickles down from the depths

Reaching your empty tomb

A deep sleep grabs you and pulls you under

Is there a better time than right now

To cover your crypt with rosesImage

What you came here to do

Your Path

Let’s climb a tree to stare at the moon

Feel the night air into your eyes

Time does glare for whom you toil

That is the question, leave me no answers

Yet obey the submission, hear me now

As my footsteps grow closer, lurking near

Are the clouds that surrender the rain

With joy and vengeance they mix

A virtuous necessity no one can overcome

As everyone must slake their thirst

Eventually someone will arrive

Who will share the secret of survival

Yet that person may not be known to you yet

Or not quite heaven sent

So continue on your path

To deliver your message

That you do not yet quite understand

On one hand you can count the ways

On the other you subtract the days

Since you last saw me in your dreams

That foretell everything you ever believed

For now you must render them unto meImage
