Daring Steps

Words unspoken often

Lead you to temptation

A position poised

To determine your fate

Upon the line which you walk

A razor’s edge

Two steps forward

One step off

Defend your status

Amongst the honored elite

Vested with privilege and scourge

High above you hear the call

A voice of the past

Or is it the wind

Daring you to fly

Into uncharted territory

Across the desert of your mind

A lonely terrain

Damaged by the demons

Of the modern day

For which you gamble

All that you have

And all that you areImage

Starting Over

In the morning you awake

To find out what you thought was real

Is gone, beginnings have begun

As the end of an era brilliantly crashed

Repeatedly the cycle churns

Over and over, again and again

Crazy circles you chase

Caught in the frenetic rat race

To continue this pace

They will steal your face

Surrender to the sabbath

That comes in the night

Segue silently into the void

Between the small hours

Of the coming dawn

A new start to etch into the world

You’ve chosen the path

A select few only do

So walk tall and beware a holy outlaw

Is on the loose

Who will judge your ways

And penalize your style

Spit in his face

And depart with a smile

There’s no one like you

Everywhere you go

People know your name

They’ve already determined

Your claim to fame

Move forward, don’t look back

Until you reach the clue

There you will be crowned the new kingImage

Cautious Rejuvenation

A receding raindrop

Reveals a regal rejuvenation

Exercise caution as the wild wind blows

A flickering street lamp up ahead

Beckons you to safety on this gloomy night

Quicken your pace

Come in out of the darkness

Candle light spills onto your face

A damp posture is unveiled

Pull up a chair and tell me

Of your journey through many lands

The fire crackles and spits

Embers of tomorrow lighten your mood

As you settle in for the night

Your story unfolds of how you were taken

Yet there is no mention of what

You had already given

Wind whistles against the wooden cottage

Windows rattle from the gathering storm

You sip your whiskey and light a smoke

Your feet in front of the fire are finally warm

Fret not I’ve already forgotten

Of which you spokeImage

Of Myths and Mountains

Who knows where you’ll be

When the sun rises tomorrow

You could be here, you might be there

Where you go when your gone

Nobody knows

Is it a place nearby

Or far, far away

In the landscape of your mind

Forgotten by now

Remembered a little later

You thought you could escape

Undetected you skulk through the mist

Of the valley from whence you came

The mountains obscure your past

The sky fades to darkness

Pure light rarely lasts

Imagine emerald isles in the sky

A country in your eyes

Separates the idea of the myths

That still linger and ones that have yet

To be forged beneath the hillside

Of your country manor

A new dawn rises

Swelling smiles suppress the silence Image

Sleeping Satellite

Silently you step outside yourself

Sideways you look into your heart

There’s a hole in the sky

You would like to fill

By playing your part

A leap of faith no more

Father time a ruthless crook

Where were you when the world shook

Were you behind the sky or above the sea

Whose reflection appeared

When you saw the life you took

Was it someone you knew and chose to dismiss

Or a ghost of the future with visions of grandeur

Sight unseen you linger between

The dark and the dawn

A spectre on the scene

Forgotten by few remembered by all

Your shadow casts a pall

Along the dusty floor you used to walk

Footsteps from the basement of time

Indicate you were here

No one ever knew

Until now

Haunted by memories of a lost paradise

I am just a stranger here or

Am I just a stranger to myself

A leave of absence or a stay of execution

Choose your solution

A shift in the Universe

Uncovers a sleeping satellite

Searching your soul from above

Detecting the depth of your loveImage

Changeling

Can you forge a new path

Starting with the highway in your head

There’s dust in my eyes from the memory of your demise

Sailing on the winds of wisdom caught you by surprise

Lingering on a lost horizon are the remains

Of the old world littered with lies

Renegade deities preach propaganda while daylight fades

Their hollow words echo inside vacant hearts desperate for direction

Forlorn followers feign forgiveness in exchange for salvation

Listen to the muse within if you want to be free from sin

A tomahawk trance triggers an apocalyptic avalanche

Curious are you?

To see what happens next

A metamorphosis from what I can detect

Pious ways of the past we reject

Individual freedoms we protect

Who among you will object?

We need a new world order to restore order

I’m here to loosen the reins and remove the stains

Left by careless regimes

Can I count on you at this critical juncture

To help turn the tide world wideImage

Who Me?

Recognized reflection

Is that really me?

How did it come to this

Dreams fade then return

Stronger now urgent is the call

Experience makes me wiser

Yet I still see the possibilities

That I conjured long ago

Life diverts into many roads

Were sometimes bound to travel

Understand the signs along the way

Which tell you when to exit

Will you get another chance

To walk this way

Do you like what you see

Have you become all you can be

Over and under

In between the ups and downs

Heading for the open door

What are you waiting for?Image
